A very simple and repetitive text and clever die cut pages introduces the life cycle of an egg, tadpole, seed, and caterpillar as they change into a chicken, frog, flower, and butterfly respectively and then the text also morphs into a tale about the creative process "First the word.. then the story."

Second. Clever is the operative word for this wonderful concept book. First the egg, then the chicken comes around at the end to first the chicken, then the egg. Bright colors and simple lines for the pictures will make this title easy to use with a group.
This was a delightful book. I can't wait to share it with a PreK-K child. I feel sure it is one that children will beg to hear again and again.
