Haiku by the eighteenth century Japanese poet, Issa, are arranged by season and accompanied by illustrations that tell a quiet story of a family experiencing nature, togetherness and loss. Not so much a narrative as a string of moments encapsulated in spare haiku and evocative illustrations.

Interesting update on an 18th c. set of poems. Second.
What a great book for introducing haiku to students. My favorite is "So many breezes wander through my summer room: but never enough" After introducing students to these poems, you could have them write their own haiku for the seasons and put together a class book.
